Sunday evening, May 30th, the most recent Elden-McGlone presentation, another amazing show of incredible music and dancing closed out the 2009/2010 Labyrinth Garden Theatre Season.
The show was opened by an exquisite performance by the Bell Choir from Sister Mary Patricia Russell School ; this was followed by 'Junkalicious', a selection of melodious precision drumming by 'Rolling Thunder' a young group from Sunland Baptist Academy, so well trained by Sheena Moree; this group later spontaneously improvised a truly appropriate introduction to our own 'Witch Doctor' Lawson Pinder! What a great dancer he is!!
We had more great dancing from our ever- welcome friend, the popular Tony Lowe who thrilled us by tap-dancing 'Mr. Bojangles'; a performance which would not have disappointed Sammy Davis himself!
A break in the dancing made room for the lovely Miss Sophie 'Versatility' Paine...this time on her magic flute in the exalted company of Paula La Plant.
Baldwin Newbold gave us an excellent rendering of the 'The Entertainer'; and was called back to the keyboard for an encore!
Also playing the keyboard, with an original piece, composed especially for this show, we were privileged to have our own Garden favourite, Jens Peter Sweeting who truly plays with his magic fingers and his gentle heart. A double treat was to listen again to Jens; this time on the guitar, with another original composition, accompanying the beautiful Julia Geiger dancing an exquisite piece entitled "Poison=Poison But "Poisson" = Fish". An incredible title which, to me, in no way described Julia, Jens or the enthralling performance.
The audience were further delighted to watch the Georgia Taylor Dancers in their different interpretations of lovely music, including 'The Prayer', 'A Secret Place' and, their finale - 'Imagine Me', beautifully performed.
The Bahamas Dance Theatre entertained us with a modern Hip Hop rendering of 'Give me More'; again showing the versatility of great talent on our Island.....and last, but by no means least, we were enchanted by the beautiful strings of the Allegro School of Music led by their maestro, Eva Raduzinski. These young violinists in their performance of 'Pachabel Canon', floated their music on the gentle night breeze; only surpassed by Eva, herself, accompanied by Lois Desaulniers, exquisitely playing 'Tango'.
We all look forward to the next season of Labyrinth Garden Theatre which will open in the Autumn. |
